Nicholas Oberdick

Nicholas Oberdick is a third-year undergraduate student in the College of Arts and Sciences, pursuing a BA in History with a minor in Spanish. He is a cadet in Army ROTC. During his time as an Army ROTC cadet, he has participated in a variety of training opportunities including Project Global Officer and Operation Sage Eagle. He studied Portuguese in Brazil and Arabic in Morocco through Project Global Officer. During Operation Sage Eagle, he spent two weeks training alongside Army Special Forces (Green Berets) in the New Mexican desert. At the Bearcat Army ROTC Battalion, he has held a variety of leadership positions including staff S2 where he led the prospective cadet outreach program that helps connect interested high school students with the Bearcat Battalion. Academically, he is interested in Latin American history and Brazil’s 1960s art movements.

Outside of school, Nicholas enjoys traveling, seeing live music, and writing movie reviews on letterboxd. He also enjoys physical activities such as playing intramural soccer, climbing, and Brazilian jiu jitsu.

Upon graduation, Nicholas will be commissioned as an officer into the Army, and he hopes to use his language skills to become a Foreign Area Officer. He is also interested in possibly joining the Foreign Service and serving the American public as a diplomat.
